Teton Valley
Located approximately 30 miles from Jackson Hole, over Teton Pass (The Hill) is the beginning of Teton Valley, Idaho. Teton Valley is on the West side of the Teton Mountain Range and is sometimes referred to as the “quiet side of the Tetons”. The towns included in Teton Valley are Victor, Driggs, Tetonia, and Alta, Wyoming. Alta is home to Grand Targhee Ski Resort, which generally receives more annual snowfall than the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Thousands of workers make the commute from Teton Valley to Jackson every day, due to the much lower cost of living and the ability to raise families in a more laid-back atmosphere, with some elbow room. Recreation opportunities abound with world-class fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, horseback riding, and both cross country and downhill skiing. From Teton Valley, it is just a short drive to the South Fork of the Snake River and the Henry’s Fork of the Snake. Both rivers provide some of the best trout fishing in the country.
